The green box should be left where the pickup people can clearly see it from the road, but as close to the boundary of your property as possible. Once emptied, please remove the box - leaving it outside is not only unsightly for the village, but the lids tend to get blown off.
So, what can you recycle in your Green Box? What They DO Collect

- All types of paper - Newspapers Magazines & Brochures
- Telephone Directories*
- Plastic bottles - no film or tubs. Milk bottles; Detergent bottles, Bleach bottles, Shampoo bottles etc., Tops off - these are made of different types of plastic and cannot be recycled. Wash the bottles Squash the bottles so that more can be fitted into the lorry
- Cans - food and drinks cans. ***
- Aerosols - all aerosol cans.
- Junk Mail, Paper envelopes, household bills
- Aluminium foil - clean foil, e.g. milk bottle tops, take-away food trays etc (please squash them all together so they take up less room) NO silver plastic i.e. crisp packets (try the scrunch test - if it springs back, its not foil)

- Clothes and shoes - good quality for charity, place in a separate carrier bag. All qualities of textiles and pairs of shoes. This includes clothes and other textiles such as old bed sheets and pillow cases. They must be clean and dry and put out in bags to prevent them from getting wet.
- All colours of glass - bottles and jars, no broken glass or sheet glass. No broken glass or other types of glass; e.g. Pyrex, tumblers, window panes etc.
- Mobile phones - proceeds in support of the Children's Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Mobile phones can also be taken to Tescos
- Batteries - place domestic batteries in a bag, place car batteries next to your Green Box.

| *They cannot take Yellow Pages as the dye affects the other paper when it is bulked for reuse. |

| ***They cannot take cardboard Juice bottles as these are made of both paper and a fine aluminium lining. |
| All materials should be clean with any caps or closures removed. Boxes should be out at the kerbside by 7 a.m. on the day of collection. - Birthday/Christmas Cards to Tesco for Charities
- Spent PC Ribbons & Cartridges can be taken to Tesco, though no-one seems to take Epsom ribbons/cartridges.
- Don’t dump old furniture – look up details of furniture recyclers in your local phone book.

- Old paint to Orinoco at Cowley where this can be re-used for charities or to Container at the Waste Recycling Centres. Or - Donate your left-over paint to www.communityrepaint.org.uk
- If you use Brita Water Filters, don't just bin them when you’re finished, recycle them by simply collecting up 6 and sending them to: Brita Recycling, FREEPOST NAT 17876, Bicester, OX26 4BR.
